Treatment of dentin caries in an anterior tooth can be performed in one or two visits, with direct or indirect restoration of the cavity. First visit:
- Anesthesia is applied.
- Carious tissue is removed and the cavity is shaped.
- If necessary, an impression is taken for indirect restoration.
- A medicated insert is placed and the cavity is temporarily obturated.
Second visit:
- The temporary obturation is removed.
- The cavity is permanently obturated. The restoration code depends on the number and type of affected surfaces. This protocol describes the procedures for a two-stage treatment of dentin caries in an anterior tooth with direct or indirect obturation.
