Overview
Mechanical cleaning of biofilm and calculus, including subgingival instrumentation of teeth with periodontal disease. If necessary, root planing is also performed to a degree that supports periodontal health. If scaling of other teeth is performed on the same or a subsequent visit without the need for periodontal instrumentation, code [97114-00] should be used for these teeth, and they should be listed separately from the teeth undergoing periodontal instrumentation.
